The use of Social Media by FLO Counselling is not intended to replace therapy in any way. Rather, it is to provide an accessible space to share knowledge and education. I acknowledge that not every post will be fitting to each person, so I encourage you to filter the information and take what feels best for you. 

 

As a Canadian Certified Counsellor, my limits to confidentiality extend to social media,  just as they do in our therapeutic relationship. The exceptions to this rule are:

• if I have any knowledge that you may harm yourself or others,

• that a child (under 19 years of age) is in danger, or

• if I am subpoenaed to the Court of Law for a proceeding you are involved in.

 

If you choose to engage on Social Media, please keep in mind that it is not a secure and confidential platform; as such, you have a choice in how you interact and what such interactions could potentially expose. Interaction with a platform could expose our therapeutic relationship if one is already formed; however, I will never respond or engage in online conversations to ensure that I am respecting your full confidentiality. 

 

I do not list my practice on any testimonial or review sites. If you find my business listed under a review site such as Google or Yahoo, I have not solicited this request and am unlikely to ever see a review posted. To ensure your own confidentiality, be aware of leaving reviews on any of these sites as this information is public. If we are working together, I would also encourage you to discuss any feedback in session. I believe that this is a very important part of therapy and I will always encourage you to be as open and honest with me as you feel comfortable.

If you do choose to follow my business Social Media accounts, I will not follow you back to support my ethical code of conduct. I will only ever use a search engine to look up information on a client in the rare case that there is a crisis and I am ensuring your well being. Otherwise, if you have not been in touch through your usual means of communication, I may use a search engine to try and get a hold of you if I feel it is necessary to do so.
